Hail turned to snow as we arrived Upper Traverse Hut. Continued for 24hr, but attempted the Saddle next morning, ready to turn back. If we stopped, we shivered. Nobody game to remove gloves for photos. Low visibility anyway. Relatively fine on the West Sabine side. One solo tramper wisely turned back, as his wet weather gear wasn't even that. | |

Did this in 4 days. It would be easy to make in to a longer track by adding extra sections to the loop. Good scenery and track is in good condition. I went at the start of October and the pass was just able to be crossed without special equipment.
