Oct 2017. Lot of people coming in from Rainbow car park, skipping Moturau Hut & overnighting Iris Burn. Majority return out the same way next day. A lot of occupancy on this one hut, more than the others. Was not like this 2016. | |

Awesome second day from Luxmore to Iris burn. Would be nice to see it snowcovered. Great huts! | |

Be prepared. Out of 50 of us who stayed at Luxmore Hut only 10 carried on through to Iris Burn. Most turned back as they were not prepared for the weather. The additional challenge made the alpine section of this walk even more enjoyable. We were rewarded with two beautiful days afterwards and some great stories. | |
