Superb views from the top. We climbed it via a sunny spur to the south of the stream which cleaves the eastern face. To get there we drove in via the 4WD track that goes to Puddle Hill Stream and parked where the gate is locked. If going this way, make sure to keep on the true left edge of the spur to avoid a nasty patch of high tussock boobytrapped with spaniards and matagouri. | |

Perfect day for an excellent little loop. Smattering of old snow on top, and the ranges westward looking stunning. The descent off the terrace is very muddy and slippery at the moment -- one of those places where you think maybe walking poles would come in handy. |
