Do please get your dog kiwi aversion trained.
But also do be aware if you are staying at a back country hut, or even on a back country track there are some pretty rough pig dogs and equally rough pig hunter owners (I'm a deer hunter, so can say that with experience). If I had a beloved aged family dog, I wouldn't want it mauled by a pack, when your dog was merely trying to say gidday to the other dogs, but they weren't so friendly in return.
