Rangitata and Rakaia Rivers
Hi all. Any done the sections of the TAT that include these rivers?
If so, what I'd like to know is if where the trail meets each river, is that section of the river navigable by boat?
I'm in a pretty unique position where I work for an outdoor adventure company, and I know one of my colleagues would be happy to come across with rafting/kayaking gear if it's suitable.
I know they're braided rivers. Just how braided in spring is the question.
Any info would certainly be appreciated. Cheers.

That photo... Many things wrong with it! Idiots were extremely lucky!
The F'Crossn's guys and camera man? Luck had nothing to do with it. They had good guides and expert safety crews. What you see on the episodes is not quite what happened on location :-). Can't comment on the other videos though.
What? Like the nice-looking downstream angled gravel bar that was on the right of shot in the episode, rather than that boulder-bedded rapid they crossed at? Somewhere soon after this point I stopped watching this show (maybe where they jumped down their third waterfall rather than walking round the nice tussock face beside it)...
Smiles Mathew, the antics of the presenters were never meant to impress experienced trampers. Edge of shot tussock faces? You would have enjoyed seeing the stuff that was removed, using the video version of photoshop.
