Umukarikari-Urchin Trip 5 April

On Sunday 5 April I will be leading a tramping club trip to do this circut http://www.tramper.co.nz/?view=object&id=3246 If anyone here would like to join us, they would be welcome. We will be leaving Rotorua at 7am so should be at the track at about 9am. It will be a longish day, probably over 7 hours and quite a bit of it is on open exposed tops. The tracks are all good. It would be a good trip for someone looking for an introduction to the Kaimanawas as you get good views of the Waipakahi Valley and also looking back to the Tongariro National Park. That is provided the weather is good. If anyone is interested I suggest they send me a private mail on this forum, including a phone number and we can make arrangements about where to meet.

Probably about 3-4 hrs from Waipakahi hut to the start of the ridge to Urchin, then about 4 hours from there. Yes, allow about 8 hours. By the way I flew over the Kaimanawas earlier in the week. Hardly any snow left there at all. Only a few small patches on the highest points.
Thanks for that. Will let you know how we get on.
