Vibram Five Fingers

There is a big article in our local paper, praising the benefits of Vibram Five Fingers, for running anyway. I see they have a Trek model http://www.fivefingers.co.nz/Trek.html I wonder if anyone here has tried them for light tramping or around the campsite etc.

I met a woman a couple of weeks ago who was wearing them on the Cass/Lagoon trip. She said they were really good to wear. You can make your own version out of a pair of socks and plastic dip - a product that sparkies use to cover joined wires to enable insulation. I was intrigued and bought the paint on version of this stuff to cover the abraded palmar surface of my Extremities overmitts. Wearing this kind of footwear enables one to take advantage of the push off of your foot and I think heel strike is eliminated as well. If you can find a sock with 5 toes as has been popular in the past then you're made. I bought a pair in Turkey once and they came into fashion here.
Kia ora everyone, just wanted you to know if you need any advice on the 'Fingers' what models are available and how to size them and/or any general questions i'd be happy to help visit my site www.hikoi.co.nz to view the range H.M

They work. I use them whenever possible when tramping, provided the conditions are warm enough not to get cold feet. I used to climb MT Adams to the snow line. So light and an amazing feeling of freedom in the feet and fantastic agility. You feel much more connected to the earth and the terrain you are walking on.
