Originally South African , living in NZ 2 years now and enjoying the outdoors and hiking in relative security . Most people jump back when I produce my machete to clear small trees that have fallen across the track but it protects the other plants from being trampled . I try to keep the 12 inch hunting knife concealed or people get really jittery .I have climbed Ruapehu in winter , done Pirongia 3 times , lietches clearing , Tongariro , pinnacles and plenty of short walks . {in the last 9 months only!} I have lots of catching up to do.
