I lived here for 18 months from june 2005 to december 2006. While there I met a German girl and we travelled around the island (working and hiking) to different areas and hiked on over 20 tracks ....these tracks varied from 1 night to 5 night hikes. On most of these hikes we stayed in our tent. Tracks of note: Abel Tasman (14 total nights..mostly North of Totranui) Liverpool Hut (Mt. Aspiring) (4 nights) Copland Track to Douglas hut (4 nights) Routeburn (4 nights) Mt. Owen, Granity Pass Hut (2 nights) Heaphy Track South end(3 nights) Arthurs Pass (Carrington hut (2 nights) Anyway the German girl is Daniela and she is still my girlfriend after these years and we now live in Heidelberg..I am an English Teacher and she an Ethnology student
