Maybe it's another straying from the topic, but here's the latest OIA request to go through to DoC via FYI:
"Dear Department of Conservation, Can you please advise what work the Department of Conservation is undertaking to ensure the survival of the rare Enderby Rabbit species unique to New Zealand to ensure the species does not become extinct."

Honora. The latest addition to our family was conceived in Cambodia so your post on napalm being partly derived from palm oil was an interesting post. Wow. Richard Nixon and the states have more to answer for than stouts and rats that's for sure

Napalm was as far as I know simply gasoline and unvulcanised rubber. Its not something that should ever of been used as weapon against anyone. Im not convinced it should even be used against animals regardless of how pesky they are. Makes a great camp fire lighter but you only need a teaspoon or 2
palmitic acid is from palm oil, it is used with naphthenic acid to gel napalm
Just looked on wiki. The original palmitic acid came from coconut oil. Not that it matters that much. Still a weapon of legalised terror in its day
That Enderby Island rabbit strain might have some amazing property such as what the Enderby Island cows possessed e.g. being able to digest seaweed. It would be a shame not to keep the rabbit line going in NZ.
I didn't realise that rabbits might have other names, all the ones I have ever come across were called Pot Roast.

What about PAPP? I believe it's used in limited amounts here.
Oz RSPCA have endorsed it as a much more humane killer than 1080, and - unlike 1080 - in the case of accidental poisoning, there is an antidote.
It's also believed to have less of an impact on bird life.
Seems worth looking into to me.
Some discussion of papp here:

New book on the topic here:
"After a year and a half looking at this, I've concluded that 1080 opposition has nothing to do with science."
