There is rather disturbing news from FMC about an increase of helicopter landings on the Ngapunatoru Plateau above Milford Sound from 10 per day to 80! Apparently the proposed increase is well above the daily limit spelt out in the Fiordland National Park Management Plan. Read it here:-

15 years ago we paddled our kayaks on the Sound, starting really early, but once those planes and helicopters started up it sure changed the experience.
It's the trend now to allow more heli access. 80 is ridiculous. Each waY that's 160 flights. If they are coming from qtown they may fly near tracks.. If they go down the hollyford u hear them from the routeburn...
Agreed waynowski. 80 landings per day - that is a spectacular number.
