I've been south from Mt Cloudsley to Mt Enys but am now keen to head north to Mt Izard. Any reason one could not traverse to Mt Izard and then take the eastern spur down from Mt Izard and then follow the Hog's Back MTB track back to the starting point in Castle Hill Village? Thanks!
To answer my own question... This can be easily done, though I might do it in the reverse order just because there appear to be more steep bits going up Mt Izard than up Mt Cloudsley. I was going to do it today but the new boots were chewing up my heels so I went back down Mt Cloudsley the way I came (Long Spur).
What's the easiest way onto Long Spur? - through the village or off Enys Rd just as you leave the village at the northern end?
Through the village. Follow Castle Hill Drive until you see the Hog's Back Track sign. That track leads directly onto Long Spur.
Cheers, didn't realise it was marked from there :)
