Sumner to Ross

  • We made it! What an adventure and fantastic walk. Left from the end of Rubicon Road and followed the gorge around to Staircase Gulley and the viaduct and tunnel. There was a really good youtube from the train which showed the lay of the land very clearly. Great spot to camp the night if you can handle the sound of trains coming through the tent.. Next morning we climbed the spur to the side and above the tunnel, three of us (one child) then around the slopes to Avoca and out. Awesome. Next leg out to Cass, Mt White bridge, then true left of the river to the Mingha.
  • Well done mate. And thanks for sharing it with us.
  • it would be great to thank ALL the people who took the time to research and provide the information you were after to help plan your trip for free?

  • wow, this seems like a friendly place.
  • it is a friendly place morgan, i've spent a lot of time and posted thousands of times contributing to discussions and helping people, and i'm not alone , i dont think its too much to ask for thank you in return to all those who help. this site offers a lot of good information from some experienced people you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else for free
  • @waynowski Like Morgan above, I'm struggling to think why you made that comment above. I know you contribute a great deal to this site, but you undermine it all when you descend into that kind of snark. I'm sorry to see it.
  • he seemed to do a selective thank you despite others contributing to the discussion with good information, its a good time for everyone to think about recognising all input
  • Bad day there @waynowski?
  • I'm grateful for the feedback on how that trip went. It's an area that I'm keen to return to. Frank and I climbed Mt Bold a while back and ogled Staircase. It's good to know that it's not too tricky to get down there from the true left. Hopefully sometime soon more tenure review will go through and open around there up.
  • Wayno, You've got to be careful before you post mate.most of us here are used to your approach and value what you sa sometimes as above you just come across all wrong. You've gotta dial back sometimes and say the right thing in the right way.
