Not sure if you have ever seen an orange smoke signal. Or a handheld flare for that matter. You're not going to set fire to anything, unless you actually mean to. Of course, you'd never use a ROCKET flare in the BUSH.

DIY Pyro has it's uses. In my youth when I spent more time camped away from huts and the like I always carried a very effective combo that allowed for starting fires in the wet. I had forgotten about that since the intro of the small gas canister systems.
Thinking of that combo, if one changed one of the ingredients you created vast quantities of dense white smoke. However it was not something you would ever want to breath in this instance as it had effects akin to tear gas. In later years I also learnt it was carcinogenic. It was potent stuff though for smoke creation.
