How to identify nz made macpac tents.

  • Name three manufactures of outdoor gear which manufacture in a western country which do not promote where they are made. Country of manufacturer is still a key marketing point for many brands. Buying based on country of origin is not racist, if anything it is nationalistic. Goods made in Singapore / Taiwan are perceived to be of better quality than goods made in China, despite all three countries being predominately the same ethnic group. So racism has little to do with it.
  • Arcteryx, advertise their gear is made in Canada but the reality is they also manufacture in Asia...
  • Many outdoor brands advertise designed in the UK, US or where ever, with smaller writing identifying where it was made. To be honest when buying a car I'm perhaps interested in resale value, but with a tent or other outdoor gear I don't bother, instead getting enough use out of it not to worry.
