Ice ax in early march?

Hi all I am planning a hike between Lake Tekapo and Queenstown on the TA starting march 1. Should I plan on bringing crampons and ice ax? Also are these routs non-technical enough for a solo hike? Thanks!

depends on exactly where your route goes. my interpretation of a non technical route would keep you out of the areas requiring ice axe and crampons.

No, you shouldn't need ice axe and crampons for this leg. There are a few un-bridged river crossings to perform, that's about as technical as it gets.
