  • That dehydrated water would be a good thing to suggest to overseas visitors one finds tramping up crystal clear river valleys with massive bottles full of water! I hadn't realised I've been carrying that dehyd water for years. I just cut out the laborious step of boiling the water away and just imagine the empty bottle filling up once I reach a stream. It works! I wonder if the same method can be applied to Stones Green Ginger Wine?
  • Yee-ha ! Freeze it & you have cubes for your dehy-alcohol.
  • "I wonder if the same method can be applied to Stones Green Ginger Wine?" Slightly different process but still works quite well. I can send you a bottle I prepared earlier if you want for not much more than the cost of postage and packaging.
  • Thanks Jeeves but there are usually a few already prepared, waiting in huts, with candle stubs in them.
  • Makes sense now I think about it ... the candle stub wax is keeping the contents fresh. Right?
  • This thread is positively inspiring. I'm reminded of a Goon show episode in which Major Bloodnock burnt all their provisions to ashes before embarking on a African expedition because, as he put it, "they're much much lighter to carry" I used to think this was just foolish nonsense, yet having just burnt all my tramping gear to ashes on the back lawn I now realize it is pure genius! The only draw back is I can't tell my yellow tent from my blue sleeping bag....but this is a small thing when I consider the incredible weight savings.
