Howdy all,
I'm planning a decent walk through the Kaimanawa:
Kaimanawa Rd, Urchin, Waipakihi, Motutere, Thunderbolt, Middle, Rangitikei, Island, Te Wetenga, Mangamingi, Ngaruroro, Boyd, Oamaru, Clements Mill Rd.
Have been pouring over maps and talking with a good friend who's been through that way (just after Cyclone Bola, so a while a go...)
Have got Permit with ACT lined up.
I'm kind of ok with my plan, and gear etc, but just need some/any advice/help on:
1: Route down from Middle Range to Rangitikei (approx TM50 1856800, 561500, 125°)
2: Route up from Rangitikei to Island Range (approx TM50 1858900, 5661800 80°-100°)
Of course, any advice, accounts, history etc will be greatly appreciated...

Only around the Oamaru, Boyd and Tussock. Been into Cascade a few times as well, so cant really give you any usefull info on your planed route.
