Cass-Lagoon is a good trip and Hamilton hut is a comfy days walk the Cass end start although you could stay at the Cass hut if you have a late start after driving from home. Tenting is a good option for this walk especially as the walk from Hamilton Hut to the end at Bealey is a good 7 to 9 hours and the huts on this part of the walk are small and a bit grotty. When I did this trip in 2006 I saw a Wallaby on the track near the Lagoon Hut. The main problem with this walk is you end up about 15km from the start so depending where you leave you car there will be a bit of hitch hiking involved.
Thanks. I was thinking of going in the Bealey end in the afternoon and staying at Lagoon Saddle Hut, second day stay at Cass Hut then walk out in the morning.
I know it's a bit of a climb first up.
Cass Lagoon is one of the best tracks in the park, Hamilton hut is one of my favourite's.
