I am a member of the Auckland Tramping Club. I have been tramping for about 40 plus years! Most of my trips are in the South Island - mainly out of Nelson, my old school tramping ground - I love this country.

About 5 years ago I really got into lightweight tramping - best thing I ever did. I love gear researching and am always in search of new ways, ideas and gear to lower weight.

I believe I have my weight to the absolute minimum now without compromising safety. On any trip (5 to 10days) I never carry no more than 10Kgs including tent (sometimes fly and bivy bag) etc

If you are into lightweight or thinking of going this way, I love to share my thoughts with you. Feel free to communicate.

PS - Excuse 7 day "facial growth" in photo - half way through big 12 day Xmas trip in Southern Alps, west coast NZ. Fab country, tough trip!
