Hello, I am from the Netherlands and planning a trip to New Zealand. This trip will take place in november and december of this year, I am really looking forward to it! We (my boyfriend and I) will fly to Auckland, rent a car and five weeks later will end up in Christchurch. We plan to do quite some hiking (or tramping?), day hikes as well as short multiday hikes.
I have read about a lot of walks and national parks to decide what gear I should need to buy, at this moment I have a pair of walking shoes, and a tent (a heavy one) (and a backpack with a from that is too large...).
I camped my whole life, and in the past years did some hiking, but we always borrowed the gear from our parents, and, well, they don't do the light traveling anymore, so it is time to get out own stuff! Any tips are welcome!
