We are looking at going into Howletts Hut this Saturday and are looking at going in from Mill Rd and up the river.
Can anyone tell me how long this route is and is it the quickest way to Howletts? I have been on the other 2 routes coming out onto Kashmir Rd and am hoping the Mill Rd route is shorter and/or has less ups and downs.
Mind you, all this is assuming that the river isn't high.
As long as you are not too slow and/or bumble footed in rivers it is the quickest way to Howletts and less climbing involved. I was in the bit between Daphne and the ridge to Kashmir/Longview recently and the river bed was nice and clean (a few years ago it was very slimy which made river travel unpleasant/slower).
Thanks for the information. We enjoyed the river travel up to Daphne. Got up to Howletts but the horrendous winds prevented us from going across Sawtooth Ridge. Had a nice time in Howletts though, with pleasant company.
