Outdoor magazines

  • I'm creating a new thread so as to avoid the site's tradition of diverging existing threads to be completely unrelated to their original intent. :-P Anyway, I saw @madpom's short list of magazines at http://tramper.co.nz/?view=topic&id=2031&messageid=14823#message14823 , three of which are NZ outdoor magazines. This is just a general interest thing, but does anyone have a fuller list? There only seem to be a smattering of magazines that even bother trying to target people interested in tramping. Wilderness is the most well known (aside from newsletters and the FMC Bulletin), and even then Wilderness sometimes seems to be struggling, but there rarely seems to be a shortage of hunting mags with different titles. The list I can think of is: * Wilderness Magazine: http://www.wildernessmag.co.nz/ * Walking New Zealand: http://www.walkingnewzealand.co.nz/ * NZ Ski & Snow Magazine: http://www.skiandsnow.co.nz/ Primary Hunting mags which seem NZ-specific: * NZ Hunter: http://www.nzhunter.co.nz/ * New Zealand Outdoor Hunting Magazine: http://www.nzoutdoor.co.nz/ * NZ Hunting & Wildlife: http://www.magmag.co.nz/shop/Sport+%26+Outdoors/Outdoors+%26+Hunting/NZ+Hunting++Wildlife.html * Rod & Rifle: http://www.rodandrifle.co.nz/ * New Zealand Guns & Hunting: http://www.nzguns.co.nz/ * Fish & Game Magazine: http://www.nzfishing.com/goodsandservices/nzgoodsandservices/fairfax/fishgamemagazine.htm * NZ Pig Hunter: http://www.nzmagazineshop.co.nz/nz-magazine-shop/cover/89/nz-pig-hunter/index.php * Hooked on Boars: http://www.hookedonboars.com/ * More-Pork: http://www.nzmagazineshop.co.nz/nz-magazine-shop/cover/483/more-pork/index.php
  • Adventure Magazine. The latest issue features rock climbing somewhere overseas according to the online sneak peek. Hee hee. Rod and Rifle is also known as Rod and Piffle.
  • I am an obssesive collector . Huts, tracks, peaks, and Wilderness and FMC Bulletin magazines . Which brings me to my question . Would anyone here be able and willing to help me fill some of the gaps in my Wilderness collection ? I have been collecting since 2000, and have a few gaps I would like to fill, so if you can help please drop me a message, and we can take it from there . Cheers
  • i too am a bit of a collector of wilderness magazines, however some of my magazines go right back to 1992!, the best place to find magazines to fill the gaps in your collection are either good old trademe or, something like a 24hr book sale, i found quite a few mags this way, the old ones are great to read at times like this when i am stuck at home after wrenching knee ligaments playing indoor netball!
