Nice 2 person biv which you can stand up in. Mainly frequented by hunters who often drive to within half an hour's walk south of the biv. Trampers often walk 5 plus hours in from Isolation Hut, upstream of Sawcut Gorge. Track across the south-east face of Mt Benmore briefly resembles a path for goats in some places. No fireplace but good fireplace constructed outside with cooking waratah. BTW DoC looking for volunteers to help cut track in Dec 2013. Condition good aside from 1 big windfall.

Getting there
Can drive in with permission from Matiawa station off from the Kekerengu Valley road. Or walk from Isolation Hut to saddle en route to Brian Boru then follow marked track to SE face. From here the track is only marked in forested areas i.e. no cairns currently in place. It needs them but we were too bloody cold to build them.
