Omarukokere Biv
Kaweka Forest Park
Omarukokere biv. A 2-mattress-on-the-floor dogbox with what looks like an old 4-bunk hut tacked on the front as a 3-walled porch / kitchen. There's a table, cooking bench and chairs in the front section, on a dirt floor. Bringing a tarp/plastic for the floor would be a bonus if you're staying here a while.
A lovely spot by the Ngaruroro with good swimming pools just downriver.
Most visitors are rafters or hunters.

Getting there
|
Down the river by raft from Ngaawapurua. Up the river from Rocks Ahead. Possible sidling most of way on true left, requiring 1 crossing below hut. 2 more crossings at the 2nd bend downriver to avoid bluffs, but can climb over if river is up. True-right has bluffs/slips & is not an option. A well-traveled, tape-marked track from the Manson range. This track runs down the spur directly behind the hut. The ridge-line is scrubby in places and track sidles the north side where this happens |
