Omarukokere Biv
Kaweka Forest Park
Omarukokere biv. A 2-mattress-on-the-floor dogbox with what looks like an old 4-bunk hut tacked on the front as a 3-walled porch / kitchen. There's a table, cooking bench and chairs in the front section, on a dirt floor. Bringing a tarp/plastic for the floor would be a bonus if you're staying here a while.
A lovely spot by the Ngaruroro with good swimming pools just downriver.
Most visitors are rafters or hunters.

Getting there
|
Main access is down the river by raft from Ngaawapurua, up the river from Rocks Ahead, or down a well-travelled, flagging-tape-marked track from the Manson range. This track runs down the ridge directly behind the hut. The ridge is scrubby on top in places and the track sidles the North side where this happens. |
