Hinerua Hut
Ruahine Forest Park
Hinerua hut is on Hinerua Ridge in Ruahine Forest Park.
A tidy 4-bunk lined hut with a good woodburner. A far warmer and quieter night than the nearby Smith's Stream, but less in the way of character and rats.
The route across private land from Mill Road is no longer open.
A DOC route heads up the creek west of Hinerua Ridge & climbs the spur between 1st & 2nd side creeks. Small waterfall near confluence of creek but ok going beyond. Good campsites after 300m.
