Sir Robert Creek, from below Toaroha Saddle

We`d overnighted at Poet Hut,a 60s icon c/w open fire,& were climbing up onto Toaroha Saddle(& biv)when a tantalising glimpse of Sir Robert Creek presented itself. The hut here was on our agenda but a couple of wx/pit days made us decide to miss it but will ensure we return. Two days previously we`d observed a 36 hour maelstrom in the comfort, nay luxury,of Bluff Hut,a real cracker of a hut & location. You pay for this with the descent to the newish s/b over the Hokitika River;a 400m steep drop,no parachute, but ample handholds.Next time,we plan to overnight at the wee Toaroha Biv.Views up the Mungo,Bluff Hut in the distance & you can almost touch the Main Divide.Awesome place!
