Zekes Hut
Just south of the army training area at Waiouru, is the Hihitahi Conservation Reserve. A couple of hours walk up and over a high ridge finds you at Zekes Hut, built in 2007. The 4-bunker is real cosy.

mantis Gate to the carpark still locked late 2010. If you drive down the access road about 200 metres north, next to the railway there are places you can park out of sight of the main road. Great little hut. Lots of Kiwi calling the night that I was there

Haqii Did you have access issues? Is the gate still locked at SH1?
