Slaty Creek Hut
An old hunters hut on the TL of the Waiheke River near the confluence with Slaty Creek.
Restored a few years back by DOC contractor Dave. This hut is being preserved by DOC as an example of an early style of hunters hut.
The DOC report on WAC huts by Michael Kelly says, it was built in 1952 & that it is
"significant for its now rare beech slab construction and as an early example of an Internal Affairs Wild Animal Control hut built by cullers."
