Lake Morgan hut
On the tops between the Haupiri & Crooked Rivers. The surrounding tops are something special! Lake Morgan is a half hour walk from the hut & can display mirror like reflections in the right condititions.

Getting there
|
Most common access is from the TL bank Haupiri River road then via the Brian O'Lyn track to the tops. Carry on to the top of Mt O'Shanessy then drop off south & access a ridge running toward the hut. Allow a day to walk in this way. Just north of Cone Creek hut there is a scree that gives easy access to the tops & hence Lake Morgan & the hut. There is also an access track to these tops from across the river from Top Crooked hut. Most parties take two days using this route. |
