Getting there
|
Up the Haupiri as far as the junction with the West Branch (Cone Creek). From the junction a well marked but over grown track follows the TL of Cone Creek to the hut . This Feb carrying overnight packs from the road end it took us 1 & 1/4 hrs to the junction with Cone Creek and a further 3 & 1/4 hrs to reach the hut. The second section has snow and wind damage as well as being overgrown. The return trip was a bit quicker. Allow a full day to go in as some have trouble staying on the track! |
