Jims Flat hut
It looks new but it is an old hut that has been rebuilt and extended. Situated beside the Ahaura River at the end of a 4x4 road. It is quite popular with local hunters, fishermen & campers.

Getting there

Follow the Ahaura-Kopara Road approx 20km until an old logging road heads off to the SW. (NZTM E1498446 N5301390) If you emerge from the beech forest on to farmland you have overshot by 1.5km
Walk or 4x4 drive about 3.5km down the old logging road to the end and you will be at the Jims Flat hut. Note that the benched walking track giving access to the historic Hamers Flat hut branches off this same 4x4 road at about the 2km mark. |
