Around 2 to 3 Hrs from the Ngatiawa roadend.Acommodates 6 though 8 could fit.Up from the hut past the goblin forest you reach the burnt over top of Kapakapanui with its tree stumps ,trig and impressive views.A fine weather trip because initially you have to ford the Ngatiawa river a few times.The track is initally quite steep but eventually becomes more gradual before a small steep section before the hut.Can be done as a round trip of 6 to 7 Hrs.

From Waikanae take the Akatarawa Rd as far as the Reikorangi Rd turnoff.Follow this to Ngatiawa Rd and turn right down it to the road end where there is a carpark. |
