McGregor biv
Tararua Forest Park
2 to 3 person biv.When i visited it was unlined but had a new water tank.It has recently had a spruce up.Stunning views of the central Tararua's.

Getting there

2 hrs from Jumbo,3 hrs from Powell,3 to 4 hrs from Tarn Ridge Hut.Can be very hard to find in bad weather.As you walk the ridge between Angle Knob towards Mcgregor going north, keep an eye out for 2 tarns.Just down from the second tarn a couple of tors will appear followed by some cairns.Follow the spur down and after 10 to 15 minutes another small tarn will appear.The biv is just to the north . |
