South Ohau Hut
Tararua Forest Park
A new hut opened in October 2008 replaces an older hut that now forms the base for the woodshed. The old hut was getting well undercut by the South Ohau River, and it was only a matter of time before it would come to grief.
The new hut is similar to other DOC huts currently being built. A well built 10 bunk on two platforms. Fire with drying racks.
Plenty of room for camping on flats below. Currently a lot of fire wood in shed and around the hut area.
Large deck that would be a great place to sleep if it wasn't for the large spiders (best guess Sheetweb).
