Getting there
Outlook: Located in the relatively remote NW Ruahine bush country on the Whakaurekou River at 550m. Reached after climbing about 700m over the Mokai Patea Range following a poled route from the carpark over farmland and open ground to the summit of the range. A descent to a saddle and bush finds a cut track down to the river and hut. Area mostly visited by hunters and tramping parties. Allow 4-5 hours.
