The Mantis II from Black Wolf is an option worth considering if you are looking for a small 2 berth tent. There is not much chance of squeezing that 3rd person into this tent, it is a cosy fit for two. Very narrow at the foot end, but it's wide enough where needed across the shoulders. A door each side with small vestibules, and interesting little vents at each end that have little hard straps to hold them open. This is not an alpine tent, but with ripstop polyester fly rated at 3000mmm water column, and 5000mm tub floor, it does well keeping out the rain. The sleek profile and 4 guy points keeps it steady in the wind. And it comes with its own little dry bag to carry it in.

But best of all, it weighs in at only 2.3kg, and is available online for less than $300. Black Wolf also do a smaller single berth version, as well as a cute bivvy tent weighing only 1.1kg.

I have always had Macpac tents in the past, but looking at the latest range I wasn't impressed with the quality or the price. The Mantis II has exceeded my expectations.
