September 2008 Stayed the previous night at the new Hawdon Hut, then made my way over Walker Pass and up the Otahaki River to Amber Col. This picture is looking north with Falling Mtn in the background and the route up at the bottem and to the right. In these conditions the 2m or so of snow covered the river for about half a kilometre, making travel alot easier. This was the last good campsite and after digging out a platform in the snow drift, proved to be well sheltered sitting just below the pass.
