Perhaps NZ's premier hunting hut, nestled above the wide open spaces of the Ngaruroro River valley. Boyd Hut is a classic 'Lockwood' style cabin identical to Oamaru and Waipakihi Huts, with two cabins either side of the main kitchen.

10 minutes flight via Air Charter Taupo, or 2 days' tramp from the north, via Cascade Hut, or east via Oamaru Hut.

NB: Much of the surrounding land is private Maori land, and requires access permits. There are at least 4 locked huts nearby on private hunting blocks which are leased during the 'roar'. Contact Air Charter Taupo.
