Mangakino Shelter, Kaimais
Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park
A roof only shelter on the Mangakino Track on the old North - South Kaimai Track. The area is about 60 metres from the stream that is also the sole water source. There is plenty of firewood, but only a rusted out BBQ type fire place. Good camping area and picnic table.
There is a toilet, but not sure of what state it is in.
Interesting from an archaeological point of view, as a lot of evidence of having been a more frequently used area in the past. May have had one or more huts in the area at some point in the past.
