Manuka Hut
Hakatere Conservation Park
A very basic hut near Lake Heron that is popular with Hunters. It is located 5 km away from Double Hut, a similar hut. Both huts have six bunks, a fireplace, a nearby river, firewood, and a toilet.

Getting there
|
Access is no longer available via the Clent Hill so now it is via the Lake Heron 4WD tracks or more directly via the Lake Emily and Stour River road ends on former 4WD tracks. Also, you can get to this hut from a traverse of the Manuka Range which is also accessible from the Mt Somers walkway near Woolshed Ck Hut. 4WD access to Harrisons Bight,beyond the Lake Heron roadend is permitted seasonally. From April 30, 2011 the road is inaccessible over the winter. |
