Price Flat Hut
Prices Flat Hut (6 bunks, matresses, tank water, stove) lies on a small terrace 100m above the Whitcombe River, adjacent to Cateract Creek. It's a comfortable, forestry style hut, free of the numerous sandflies which swarm the historic Prices Flat Hut, on the river flats 500m downstream.
The hut lies on the Whitcombe Valley track from the Whitcombe roadend over the Whitcombe Pass to Glenfalloch Station on the Raikaia. There's also an unmaintained route above the hut, climbing to clear tops of Mt Tarleton. Prices River, opposite, provides another option for exploring, and contains a hut near its head: Pricres Basin Hut. Deer and Chamois numbers are reasonable, and this is a popular spot for hunters, many of whom chopper in.
