This track sets off from a small car park at a bend on Harmans Road, to climb up through Whakaraupo Reserve. Following the oil pipeline briefly, the track bends left into revegetated scrub, before zigzagging up a spur, mostly through broom scrub. The walking is easy, with good views of the harbour. Near the top, the track sidles over toward the Bridle Path, meeting it at the summit car park.
If you are walking down from the Summit Road, the track is unmarked, and heads down to the right from the car park.
You can easily make a loop using Stan Helms Track and the harbour side of the Bridle Path. Road walking end to end is less than 10 minutes along Harmans Road.
