Locked sole-occupancy hut on the Orongorongo River. The hut must be booked in advance.
The hut has a gas cooker, utensils, pots, pans, crockery, flush toilet, and even a wetback for hot showers! Lighting, toilet paper, matches not supplied.

Getting there
|
Ford the river straight over from the end of the Orongorongo Track and walk upriver about 100 metres. A small gap in the bush reveals a path heading steeply up to the hut. If you miss it then there is a marked "back door" track further up the river. 2 hours from the Catchpool carpark. |
