Blue Lake Hut
Nelson Lakes National Park
Located beside tiny Blue Lake at the head of the Sabine Valley. West, Moss Pass leads to the D'Urville Valley. South is larger Lake Constance and Waiau Pass beyond.
Blue Lake is renowned for its clear waters, with up to 80m visibility making it the clearest fresh water in the world, according to NIWA.
Water from the largely plant-free Lake Constance is filtered through an ancient landslide before entering Blue Lake.
