The 2024-2025 Routeburn Track Great Walks season will be delayed. It is due to open on 15 November 2024. This is due to bridge work near Emily Creek, midway between Routeburn Flats Hut and Routeburn Falls Hut.

Due to weather delays and ground conditions, construction progress has been impacted. The bridge is not expected to be completed until mid-November. 

During this construction period, a section of the track will be closed between Roueburn Flats Hut and Routeburn Falls Hut. You will not be able to walk the entire track end to end.

You can still walk into Routeburn Flats Hut from the the Routeburn Road end (Glenorchy side). Or you can walk to Routeburn Falls Hut from the Divide side. Contact the Queenstown Visitor Centre for more information.

During the extreme weather of 3 February 2020, the Routeburn Track sustained significant damage and will not reopen this season and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. The track will require considerable repair work to be operational.
