  • Honora Honora Last winter (2011) we used this hut as a motel as we could drive across 7 Mile then. We were spending weekends recutting our track across from the Taipo Bridge to Rocky Creek. Some hunters had cut rata from the riverbed and one night I got up for the usual reason at 1am and discovered it was 37 degrees in the hut. It's definitely cosy when you can get that firebox cranking. So my pick for winter is the modern hut!

  • glennj glennj Yes it's a modern hut that is well insulated but I find there is something stark and characterless about it especially in contrast to the cosy, welcoming & character filled "Homestead" hut a few minutes back toward Seven Mile Creek. [perhaps it's an age thing with me but I see "madpom" has expressed similar sentiments]

  • BlueDog This is a really nice hut, stopped there after crossing from Carroll Hut, Queens Birthday weekend 2007.
