This straightforward track crosses Glenthorne Station, visiting two small lakes. Access is free, and permission is not required. However, walkers should remain on the track.
The track starts at a car park between Lakes Evelyn and Selfe with a stile and informal sign. The car park is about 30 minutes from Lake Coleridge village.
The track itself is marked by poles along a fenceline and up onto the hillside of Little Mount Ida (1050m). The track edges around the hillside to Lake Ida, wedged between Mount Ida (1695m) and its junior partner. This cold little lake freezes in winter and was used for ice skating.
From here, a less formed track continues onward to Lake Catherine (Monck), and damp underfoot.
