Death Valley Saddle

Death Valley Saddle

Death Valley is an offshoot of Kay Creek and makes an interesting and straight forward alternative to a crossing from Scott Creek to Kay Creek or vise versa.

This photo is taken from the Scott/Kay saddle looking up towards the Death Valley saddle. The tussock and rock at the foot of the scree slope hides a large alpine lake (not shown on the Topomap) which is the northern source of Kay Creek. The saddle is reached by going around the northern side of the lake and then up the scree, through bluffs and then over some whale back rocks to reach the top.
